YOUR CASE
One foggy morning in 1683, a lone pirate ship appeared, floating silently on the calm waters into Scarborough Harbour. The ship was deserted apart from a treasure map pinned to the ship's wheel with an 8-inch dagger. Despite many desperate searches, the location of the island on the map has remained a mystery until now, when local explorer I.C.Isles discovered it. Can you solve the clues to help him locate the hidden treasure?
Scarborough South Cliff
Scarborough is the largest holiday resort on the Yorkshire Coast and originally grew up on and around the site of the castle on the rocky headland above the harbour, with settlements dating as far back as the Stone Age.
The South Cliff area around which this Trail explores was not developed until Spa water was found flowing into the sea in 1626. This attracted many visitors to the Spa and Scarborough became Britain's first seaside resort.
