The Mysterious Disappearance of Mrs T. Cosy

Something strange is happening in the town of Harrogate. Mrs T. Cosy, inventor of the famous chocolate teapot and a well-known tea drinker, has vanished without a trace. The local police are stumped, and now it's up to YOU to solve the mystery!

Treasure Hunt Through Harrogate - Can YOU Find Mrs T. Cosy?

Join us on an exciting self-guided detective mystery through the charming Victorian Spa Town of Harrogate. As you follow the trail of clues from the Royal Pump Room Museum to key sites such as the Montpellier Quarter, Valley Gardens, the old Royal Baths, and the iconic Betty's Tearooms, you'll unravel the mystery and discover the truth about Mrs T. Cosy's disappearance.

But be warned, this is no ordinary case. Mrs T. Cosy was no mug and had predicted her demise in her tea leaves. Can YOU decipher the clues she left behind and 'filter' through the suspects to finally 'bag' the culprit before it's time for afternoon tea?

Trouble is brewing, super sleuths… Can YOU help find the guilty party?

What is a Treasure Trail?

Before You Set Off

Navigating The Route

This is a circular investigation through Harrogate’s town centre and Valley Gardens, with detectives following pavements and clear footpaths as they track down vital clues. While much of the route is on good paths, there are changes in terrain and sections through the gardens, so it is not suitable for wheelchairs or pushchairs. Take care near roads when moving between locations and stay alert in busier town areas as you patrol.

Getting There

Time to assemble your squad and open the case file:

Royal Pump Room Museum (HG1 2RY) - Your official investigation start point, right by Valley Gardens.

By car: Jubilee Multi-Storey Car Park (HG1 1DJ) is one of the closest parking options. Montpellier Shoppers Car Park (HG1 2EG) is another nearby option for your undercover arrival.

By public transport: Regular train services from York and Leeds, and regular buses from Leeds, Wetherby and Ripon, all drop you a short 10-minute walk from the start.

Need the Loo?

Even top detectives need a comfort break during a long case!

Toilets can be found just after Clue 04 in Valley Gardens and again not far from Clue 10 as your investigation continues.

There are also plenty of cafés along the route - perfect for a quick refuel (strictly tea-based, of course).

Bring Your Furry Sidekicks

Four-legged detectives are welcome on the case. With gardens and town paths to explore, there’s plenty to keep noses busy - just keep leads handy near roads and in busier areas. Dogs should be kept on a lead or under control at all times within Valley Gardens.

Stakeouts & Tea Stops

Valley Gardens is an ideal stakeout spot, with space for a picnic and a café nearby - perfect for reviewing your evidence over a well-earned cuppa. There are also plenty of cafés in the town centre during the second half of your investigation if you need to top up your tea levels.

Want to Make a Day of It?

Valley Gardens & Scenic Sleuthing

A large part of your investigation takes place in the beautiful Valley Gardens, with winding paths, historic features and plenty of places to pause and plan your next move.

Spa Town Secrets & Historic Streets

Harrogate’s elegant streets and spa-town heritage provide the perfect backdrop for a mystery. From pump rooms to grand buildings, every corner feels like it could hide a clue.

Tea Rooms, Treats & Detective Debriefs

No visit to Harrogate is complete without a proper tea stop. With famous tea rooms and plenty of cosy cafés along the route, it’s the perfect place to celebrate cracking the case - preferably with a slice of cake on the side!
