TRAIL TROUBLES 2010

The following Trail Troubles only affect the following Trail versions (and subject to any additional given reset dates):

  • Those Trails with a URN that starts with RC or TT.
  • Those Trails that do not have a Version number (i.e v1, v2, v3 etc) in the "Start Here" box on Page 3 of the Trail.

ALL of these Trail Troubles have been rectified for Trails purchased online after 25th January 2011 and for those Trails bought elsewhere that have a version number in the "Start Here" box.

Attleborough - Clue 11 : The house name sign on which the clue was set has been changed.  The name you would find is OATLANDS. This does not affect Trails bought after 1335hrs on 4th October as this clue has now been reset.

Aylsham - Clue 12 : The sign on which Clue 12 is set has been removed. The missing word is MACDONALD.

Binham - Clue 10 : The numbers you require are the 2nd, 3rd, 5th, 6th and 11th and not as may be printed in the Trail booklet. The associated answer is CHAHA BEACH.  Online copies purchased after 22nd October are not affected.

The Birchams - Clue 5
: One arm of the signpost has been removed. The answer you need is EIGHT.

The Birchams - Clue 10 : If your clue 10 starts "And what number can be found ..." then read on!  BT have replaced the telegraph pole on which this clue was set - the answer required is 3778. This will not affect online copies purchased after 22nd August as this clue has been reset.

Burnham Market - Clue 18 : The fountain has been removed! The location you should delete is STUBBINGS WOOD.

Caister-on-Sea - Clue 10 : The pole has been removed! You should eliminate JOHN HINDTHORPE from your enquiries.

Castle Acre - Clue 9 : The advertising board for the B&B has been removed for winter.  The individual to discount from your search is AXEL GEMINI.

Cromer - Direction 17
.  There may be confusion caused by the current wording of this Direction as Mount Street transforms into Louden Road (without there being a 'physical' junction).  The precise wording for this Direction is currently being reviewed.  Whilst this is ongoing please take the this Direction to read "... right into Mount Street, continuing along the road into what then becomes Louden Road" - this will ensure you will be able to find, and solve, the final clue!

Cromer - Clue 5 : The occupiers of the building have changed. The word found twice would have been 'HOLLAND'. This has been rectified for Trails bought online after 20th April.

Diss - Clue 7 : The engraving has worn away to such an extent to make it barely readable. The location to remove is SAMUEL SANDS.

Gorleston - Clue 2
: Following building works there is no longer a sliding flood gate at the clue location. The answer you require is 529041.

Great Yarmouth - Clue 12 : The information board upon which this clue could be found has been removed for repair. The death from 1347 was the 'BLACK DEATH'. This has been rectified for Trails bought online after 20th April.

Great Yarmouth - Clue 15 : The charity shop (F.A.I.T.H) on which this clue was set has moved. Whilst the information is still available it may not be for much longer. The location you require is FOREST OF FAITH.
 
Holt - Orders 12 : The Council have renumbered the lamp posts. You should cross the road at lamp post 6. This has been rectified for Trails bought online after 21st April.

New Hunstanton - Clue 7 :
The information board has moved! Make your way into the car park and turn right.  The board can now be found by the Railway Signal.

Old Hunstanton - Clue 2 : Due to ongoing works on the Lifeboat Station this clue is hidden by scaffolding. The answer you require is 1993.

Old Hunstanton - Clue 11
 : If, in your Trail, this is a picture clue then the answer you require is 'PLUM'. This has been rectified for Trails bought online after 21st April.

Mundesley :
The suspect with the surname Green should be ROBERT GREEN.

North Norfolk Coast Trail 1E & 1W - Clue 14 (1E) / Clue 04 (1W) : The 'carnival queen' has been removed. The answer to this clue is SIX.

Norwich Cathedral - Clue 5 : The location of this clue now falls within a private car park and is often blocked by moter vehicles. The individual you should remove from your enquiries is ALISON HUMPHREY.

Norwich St Johns - Clue 11 : The sign on which this clue is based has been damaged to make it no longer solvable. The location you should delete from your search is FULLMAN FALLS.

Reepham - Clue 22 : There is a typo in line 1 of the clue wording.  It should read "The 1st, 4th and 8th ...".  The initials that would reveal are N D T allowing you to now solve this clue.

Sedgeford - Clue 13 : One set of swings has been changed. You should have been able to find  4 swing seats allowing you to deduce an answer of 1996.
 
Sheringham - Clue 9 : The lamp post on which the picture was attached has been removed for repair! Whilst there are similar images further along the promenade they are not until past Clue 11 (which could result in you missing clues 10 and 11!). The missing word is DESIGNATED which would allow you to eliminate TED AGNISED from your enquiries.

Sheringham - Direction 13 and Clue 18 : The road upon which direction 13 is based has been closed to pedestrians. The building upon which Clue 18 was set has been knocked down! The relevant items have been rewritten as follows:

  • This Way 13 : At the crossroads go straight across and continue along Beeston Road. Turn right into Salisbury Road and then left into Cremer Street.
  • Clue 18 : Locate a nearby meeting house and identify the pals who meet here!  The 2nd and 4th letters match the 6th and 4th letters of this innocent suspect.

This does not affect trails bought online after 1015hrs on 6th May.  The Trail answer remains the same for both versions.

Thetford - Clue 19 : The flagstone on which this clue has suffered from considerable, and recent, erosion. The answer you require is FROST.

Watton - Clue 20 : The map / painting on which this clue is set has been removed. The individual you should remove from your enquiries is JOHN CHRISTIAN.

Wroxham - Clue 1
: The map has been removed.  At grid square G4 you would have found the word 'BRIDGE'. These does not affect Trails bought online after 24th April, nor does it affect the "Wroxham and Hoveton" Trail

Wroxham -
Direction 8 :
This should read "Continue straight ahead.  Shortly after passing the crossroads, take the turning on your left into the Broads Centre Shopping Precinct.  There will be three clues to solve."  This does not affect Trails bought online after 24th April, nor does it affect the "Wroxham and Hoveton" Trail.

Wroxham and Hoveton - Clue 13 :
Rotary International no longer meet at Hotel Wroxham and have removed their plaque. The location to remove from your search is ROTARY RIDGE.

Wymondham - Clue 1 : The Town Map has been removed - the answer you were looking for was 'STRAYGROUND'This does not affect Trails bought online after 25th April.

Wymondham - Clue 3 : The heritage plaque on which the answer to this clue could be found has been removed. The answer is 'JOHN'This does not affect Trails bought online after 25th April.
