  • YOUR MISSION

Mad archaeologist, Kanai Diggit, believes there is more treasure to be found in the forests surrounding Thetford. Being a lazy individual, rather than digging exploratory trenches he has planted a number of devices that will destroy the forests and create massive craters instead. These devices are detonated by a single controller which requires a four digit code to activate. Can you solve the clues, reveal the code and disarm the device?

    Thetford

Thetford is a traditional Norfolk market town and, with its southern extremities forming the Suffolk border, could be seen as the gateway to the County. Historically, Thetford is famous for many things from being the royal residence of Boudica, Queen of the Iceni and leader of the revolt against the Romans, to being the home of the monarchs of East Anglia during the Anglo-Saxon period through to the birthplace of Thomas Paine, the author of books such as 'The Rights of Man' and 'Age of Reason'. And for those of a certain age Thetford will always be remembered as the location for many of the external scenes from the hit BBC TV sitcom Dad's Army with a number of Thetfords buildings forming the fictitious town of Walmington On Sea. Thetford is easily accessible off the A11 and sits surrounded by a considerable area of woodland.

The trail is 2.2 miles long and you should allow up to 2.5 hours to complete. PLEASE NOTE that some of the clues are set within Thetford Priory which has restricted opening hours (10am - 5pm (or dusk), closed 25th & 26th December and 1st January). Please plan your Trail accordingly.

Whilst the terrain is generally level throughout and good underfoot there is one section over uneven, and potentially soft, ground. It is therefore, regrettably, not considered suitable for wheelchairs. The recommended car parks are in Tanner Street (IP24 2BQ).
