YOUR CASE
Legend has it that before the Norman invaders were repelled from East Anglia much of the treasure they looted was hidden on a small island off the East Coast. A treasure map purporting to show the possible locations of this treasure has come to light. Can you solve the clues and so reveal the precise location of the hidden treasure and ensure it is returned to its rightful owners?
Norwich St John`s
Starting in the City Centre on the steps of the ultra-modern Forum this walking trail covers an area of Norwich that could be considered to be 'off the beaten track'. With The Cathedral of St John The Baptist as the central feature the trail works its way westwards and encompasses areas such as the Chapel Field Gardens. Whilst much of the area is relatively young in comparison to other areas of the city, partly due to a considerable amount of redevelopment post WWII, it nevertheless has plenty of heritage and history just waiting to be discovered!
This is a walking trail, in the treasure hunt format, and is approximately 1.5 miles long. You should allow 1.5 hours to complete it. The ground underfoot is good throughout and is considered suitable for both pushchairs and wheelchairs. There is little, or no, free car parking in the city centre. Ample parking is usually available at St Andrews Car Park (NR3 3AJ), however the closest car parks to the Trail start point can be found in St Giles Street (NR2 1JL) or at the Forum itself (NR2 1AW). Alternatively, you may wish to use one of the six award winning 'Park and Ride' facilities that are located around the outskirts of the City. The photograph of The Cathedral of St John The Baptist, used both above and on the trail cover, is reproduced by kind permission of Mr Richard Wells.
