  • YOUR MISSION

Whilst dredging the port area to allow for the new super liner, MV Gonsailin, to visit the region an old wartime device has been unearthed. This device was designed to block the port in the event of an invasion. If this device is not deactivated it will explode, preventing the Gonsailin from visiting. Thankfully clues that will reveal the de-activation code have been left around Gorleston. Can you solve them and save the day?

    Gorleston

Gorleston has a maritime history that stretches back centuries. Whether it was from when it was home to the largest herring fleet in the world, or it's Royal Navy warships sailed to fight in the Napoleonic Wars Gorleston has always been a pivotal part of history. More recently, Royal Air Force Marine Craft based here rescued more than 700 downed aircrew during World War 2 alone and the RNLI Lifeboat continues to support those in distress at sea. A lot of the current port traffic is in support of the North Sea gas fields. As a holiday resort, Gorleston can boast one of the best beaches in Norfolk. Situated to the south of the town the beach stretches southwards for what seems like miles. Inland there are equally impressive cliff top gardens and plenty of traditional seaside activities for all the family to enjoy (after you have completed your trail of course!) including bowls, tennis and even a trim trail!

This is a walking trail in the spy format. It is approximately 2 miles long and you should allow a minimum of 2 hours to complete it. The trail starts outside the Lifeboat Station. There is free parking available in the car parks alongside the start point (NR31 6PH), further along the quayside by the Pier Hotel or roadside along the Marina. The trail is considered suitable for pushchairs and wheelchairs.
