YOUR MISSION
The evil genius, Dr Dan-Gerous, in his quest for even greater wealth, has planted a device which will destroy Bishop Bonners Cottage. He believes that Viking gold remains buried beneath it and wants to lay claim to it. Local historians refute this and fear that a building of vital historical and local importance will be destroyed forever if his wicked plot is not foiled. Can you discover the secret code to prevent the detonation of the bomb?
Dereham
Set in the heart of the County of Norfolk (and conveniently located just off the A47 between Swaffham to the west and Norwich to the East), Dereham is a traditional Market Town with a history that can be traced back to the 7th Century when Withburga, the daughter of an Anglo Saxon King, established a religious community in the deer park (and which gives the town its name). Dereham is also recorded in the Domesday Book of 1066 as being a "Village with 3 Water Mills and 20 Pigs". The majority of the historical buildings were either destroyed by the Vikings or in the great fires of 1581 and 1659 - however St Nicholas Church and Bishop Bonners Cottage remain fine examples of 13th and 16th century architecture respectively.
This is a Spy Walking Trail and, whilst there is a gentle hill at the end of the Trail, it is considered suitable for both pushchairs and wheelchairs. The trail is just under 2 miles long and should take approximately 2 hours to complete.
The recommended car park is the Theatre Street car park (NR19 2AX) where all day free parking is available.
