  • YOUR CASE

Whilst taking a walk along the beach a local businessman, Jack Ovalltrades, found a bottle washed up on the shore. Inside he found a treasure map. With it were clues that if solved correctly will lead to the location of hidden pirate treasure. Jack has had no luck in solving the clues and he is looking for the best treasure hunters in Norfolk to help him ... this means you! Can YOU solve the clues to reveal the treasure location ....?

    Cromer

Situated on a cliff-top overlooking sandy beaches Cromer is a classic Norfolk seaside town. Despite the ravages of the North Sea the town pier survives, together with its Pavilion that proudly claims to be home to the last remaining ’end of Pier show’. Whilst the fishing industry may have declined the famous Cromer crabs are as abundant and popular as ever requiring fishing boats to be launched from the Eastern end of the beach to tend the hundreds of crab pots set out. Cromer was also home to perhaps the most famous coxswain in RNLI history, Henry Blogg. Cromer is also home to the tallest church tower in Norfolk, topping out at 160 feet above ground level. Those prepared to undertake the 172 steps to the top will be amply rewarded (weather permitting!) with some magnificent views.

This is a Treasure Hunt trail. The trail is approximately 1¾ miles long and you should allow approximately 2 hours to complete. There are a number of steep paths getting to and from the promenade. Despite these potential challenges the trail is considered suitable, with care, for pushchairs and wheelchairs. Out of season (Oct - Mar) on-road free car parking may be available. In season the nearest car park (pay and display) to the trail start point is the Meadow Road car park (NR27 9EF), directly behind the North Norfolk Information Centre.
