Introduction
Treasure Trails are a fun and healthy activity aimed at all ages and abilities. The Trails are a self-guided route around a particular location on which Trailers are required to solve a number of clues. These clues are set upon permanent features such as war memorial, street signs or gravestones. Wherever possible we ensure that all of our Trails are fully accessible to everyone. If, for example through the nature of the local terrain, a Trail is not considered wheelchair or pushchair friendly then we make sure that the nearest Trail is fully accessible.
Pre Arrival
Details of each Trail can be found on our website. This will include the distance covered, an estimated time for completion and a broad description of the terrain that will be encountered. We also include a recommendation as to wheelchair and pushchair suitability. The Trails can either be purchased for download or the pre-printed version can be selected, and sent via the post. Should larger print Trails be required these can be obtained by calling the office direct.
Arrival and Parking Facilities
Trails are undertaken at an individual’s time of choosing. Broad travel directions are provided where necessary. Full details of local car parking and/or Park and Ride facilities (where available) are also given for each Trail. The start point for each Trail is given in the Trail booklet itself and will be an easy to find location that is most likely signposted (such as railway stations, tourist information centres or notable buildings).
Trail Directions
Directions required to solve the Trail are provided within the Trail Booklet. They are written in a clear and directive manner and use street names where available. Alternative directions avoiding, for example, steps or uneven ground are given where necessary. Trailers will not be expected to enter private grounds/property in order to successfully solve the Trails, nor will they need to pay any additional entry fees (however miscellaneous costs such as bicycle hire, mooring charges and public transport costs (where applicable) are not included in the price of the Trail).
Public WCs
Public facilities are available on each Trail although directions may not be specifically given. Some of these facilities may be subject to either seasonal opening hours and/or an access payment.
Restaurants/Tea Shops/Cafes
Such facilities are available on the majority of Trails, but again directions are not specifically given. Opening hours and accessibility cannot be guaranteed.
Additional Information
All the Trails, subject to local Bye Laws, are suitable for Assistance Dogs. A feedback facility in our online Answer Submission allows Trailers to raise any accessibility issues they may have encountered.
