  • YOUR CASE

Many years ago in the 12th century Bill de Mowbray collected a pile of gold to use as a ransom to free King Ricky the Wellard from imprisonment in Austria. Historical records indicate that much of this was never used and local legends developed about what happened to it. Recently part of an old parchment map bearing de Mowbrays' seal was discovered during building work near the station. Does this hold the secret to a hidden hoard of gold? Follow the Trail and solve the clues to find out...

    Melton Mowbray Treasure Trail

This trail is about a mile and a half long and should take about one and a half to two hours. Set in the heart of rural England, Melton Mowbray is a bustling market town with many attractive old features. It is unusual in having extensive parklands in the centre of the town and also a thriving Tuesday Cattle Market. It is a rural food capital and is famous for its pork pies, stilton cheeses and local ales, including Melton Red.
