  • YOUR CASE

In the fourteenth century a tax collector was robbed by outlaws as he passed through the Vale on his way to Nottingham. He was carrying a fortune in gold. The outlaws were caught but all died without revealing where they had hidden the loot. During recent restoration work on a local church an ancient map was found with strange markings on it. Does it reveal where they hid the gold? Can you solve the clues to find the hidden hoard?

    Belvoir Castle Country

This ten mile driving or cycling Trail takes you along quiet roads or cycle tracks through the beautiful countryside and villages of north-west Leicestershire. It involves a couple of miles walking and should take about three hours to complete. Starting in Knipton, it crosses into Lincolnshire to visit Denton and then proceeds to Woolsthorpe and Muston before ending close to the magnificent church of St Mary the Virgin, 'The Lady of the Vale', in Bottesford. Along the way there are spectacular views of Belvoir Castle which dominates the landscape, and hidden gems to discover at almost every turn. For cyclists, stretches of the route may be travelled on National Cycle Routes 64 and 15.
