YOUR CASE
One morning the mangled body of Gary Bauldie, a well known local biscuit baker, was discovered by the castle ruins. Recently he had been resisting a takeover by the dastardly J. Dodger who wanted control of his secret recipes. So, was he just in the wrong place at the wrong time or was something
more sinister going on? Solve the clues to find who crumbed him and how. If you get it right you could win a prize!
Ashby de la Zouch
This Trail is a mile and a half long and should take you up to two hours along level pavements and footpaths. Ashby de la Zouch is a historic market town shaped by the events of the past 1000 years. It was a garrison town for the Royalists during the Civil War before being surrendered in 1646, after which the castle was partly destroyed and largely forgotten. But in 1820 Sir Walter Scott used the castle in his classic novel 'Ivanhoe'. About the same time the town also gained fame as a Spa Town, when the Ivanhoe Baths and the Royal Hotel were built. The Baths are now gone but much remains in the streets of the town to remind us of its fascinating and illustrious history.
