YOUR CASE
Ray Crowman thought he was on to a winner with his entry for the annual Wray Scarecrow Festival when he decided to cover himself in straw, stick a carrot on his nose and dress up in his oldest rags. But the dark side of the Lune was revealed when the ‘scarecrow’ was found dead on the eve of the judging. Was this an unfortunate accident or the actions of a jealous rival? Solve the clues to find out and you could win a prize!
Lune Valley
This Trail explores the glorious countryside and picturesque villages that line the valley of the River Lune between the historic city of Lancaster and market town of Kirkby Lonsdale, and provides stunning views across to Ingleborough and the Yorkshire hills and to the Forest of Bowland fells. There are numerous fine pubs, inns and eating establishments along the route.
This is a driving and walking Trail which tours the Lune Valley. It starts at the Crook O'Lune picnic site which provides stunning views up the river and includes stops at the villages of Arkholme and Wray which is famous for its annual scarecrow festival. The Trail will take about 2.5 hours with 20 miles of driving and 2 miles of walking. There are short sections over gravel and grassed areas which would be unsuitable for wheelchairs, although alternative routes are available to exclude these sections. It is suitable for pushchairs.
