YOUR CASE
Returning from a fruitful trip plundering on the high seas, Capt Hogwash came ashore to celebrate his ill-gotten gains in the Stork. But pursued by the Customs men he was forced to stash a map showing the whereabouts of his treasure up the chimney and make a hasty retreat to the sea. 200 years later the long-lost map was re-discovered. Help find the treasure and you may win a prize. You may also unlock some real treasure in The Stork Inn!
Conder Green and Glasson Dock
On this Trail you must find the answers to clues around Conder Green and Glasson Dock to find the whereabouts of the treasure on Captain Hogwash's map. You may win a cash prize if you submit the correct answer to the puzzle and some real treasure awaits you in the Stork Inn!
The Trail starts at the picnic site at Conder Green and then follows the track of the old railway into Glasson Dock. On this Trail you are never far from water and at times it feels like you are on an island since there appears to water in every direction! The Trail follows the banks of the River Lune, crosses the River Conder several times, goes around the dock and basin at Glasson, follows the Lancaster Canal and provides stunning views out across the Irish Sea. Along the way there is abundant wildlife to be observed.
After a good walk in the countryside, what better way to finish than in the Stork Inn where a warm welcome awaits walkers, families, cyclists and dogs. And inside the pub you will find a treasure chest that can be unlocked by solving the puzzle and which contains some goodies and special offers such as Kids Eat Free, Free Desserts and Money Off offers!
This is a walking Trail of 3.0 miles which should take about 2.0 hours. The first section between Conder Green and Glasson is along a gravel footpath and the route back is along the grass towpath alongside the canal. The towpath can get muddy after wet weather and so good walking footwear is recommended.
This is also a good Trail to be completed by bicycle. Follow cycle route 6 out of Lancaster to Conder Green picnic site. There are cycle stands at the picnic site, in Glasson Dock and at the Stork Inn where your bikes can be locked whilst you complete those sections of the Trail on foot.
