  • YOUR CASE

Fleetwood fisherman Hal E Butt made the catch of the day when he found an old rum bottle in his nets, complete with a treasure map and clues showing the location of the ill-gotten gains of an old Caribbean pirate hidden on a small island somewhere in the Irish Sea. So get your skates on and don't spend too long to mullet over – if you find the plaice where the treasure can be found you may net yourself a prize!

    Fleetwood

Visit Fleetwood and you’ll feel like you’ve arrived at a true Victorian treasure, an intriguing mix of a traditional seaside resort and port with an elegant promenade packed full of attractions.

On this Trail you must find the answers to clues around the coastal town of Fleetwood to find the whereabouts of the treasure on Hal E Butt’s map. Whilst there is no real treasure to be found you may win a cash prize if you submit the correct answer to the puzzle!

With stunning views across Morecambe Bay, traditional seaside attractions around the art-deco Marine Hall and its gardens and shopping at Fleetwood Market and nearby speciality shops, there’s plenty to keep you entertained. The Trail will take you around all these attractions and if you want to find out more about the town’s heritage then along the way you can visit Fleetwood Museum, a real treasure trove of information, packed with maritime history and treacherous tales.

This is a walking Trail of 2 miles which should take about 1.5 hours. It is entirely on pavements around the town and promenade and is therefore suitable for pushchairs. There are steps at the entrance to the churchyard and in the Marine Hall gardens, however these can be circumnavigated and so the Trail is also suitable for wheelchairs.
