  • YOUR CASE

When celebrity chef Hesther Bloomingtail announced she was to launch her new bacon and snail sausages during Clitheroe's Sausage Day celebrations, the Lancashire 'food town' was sizzling with anticipation. But the sizzle went flat when the molecular gastronome was found dead amongst her test tubes. Was this an unfortunate accident or the actions of a jealous rival? Solve the clues to find out and you could win a prize.

    Clitheroe

On this Trail you must find clues around Clitheroe town centre that will solve the murder of the celebrity sausage chef Hesther Bloomingtail. if you find the correct solution and submit your answer you may win £1,000!

Clitheroe is a delightful market town in the heart of the beautiful Ribble Valley and provides an excellent base for exploring the nearby areas of Pendle Hill and the Forest of Bowland. The Norman Keep of Clitheroe Castle dominates this Trail and the town below it. The keep was built in the 1180s and is said to be the smallest in the country as well as being one of the oldest buildings in Lancashire. The Castle Museum has recently been renovated and the grounds feature lots of fun activities including a Creative Activity Space and Lancashire's only labyrinth, one of only eight in Britain. Clitheroe has recently been appointed Lancashire's Food Town and has a number of independent shops selling produce from the local area. So why not combine the Trail with a visit to the Museum and a picnic in the Castle grounds or lunch in one of the pubs and cafes along the Trail route?

This is a walking Trail of 1.2 miles. There are steps and steep sections at a number of places around the Trail which make it unsuitable for wheelchairs but it is suitable for light pushchairs.
