The team at Treasure Trails Lancashire relishes the challenge of developing and creating innovative learning projects that bring the curriculum to life, at all key stage levels, in a way that is not only educational but also fun and healthy. Treasure Trails encourages pupils to enjoy the outdoors, helps them to develop team-work and promote social skills whilst at the same covering a varied mix of learning themes including Literacy, Numeracy, History, Geography, Art, Graphic Design and ICT.
There are a number of ways in which Treasure Trails can work with your institution:
• School-based Trails
• Trail development educational projects
• School trips
• Freshers week and school transition events
A number of learning projects developed in other areas of the UK are illustrated below. We can tailor our work to suit your needs, so please get in touch to discuss how we can work together.
An outdoor Treasure Trail incorporating a hunt, puzzles and games is an ideal way to learn about a location and its history and at the same time develop numeracy and literary skills whilst benefitting from exercise and fresh air. We can develop trails for education departments and schools for use by learners either as part of the curriculum or extended services provision. We are also now working on developing technology-based Trails using GPS and mixed media sources.
Developing and marketing a Trail requires a wide range of skills which make creating a trail an ideal educational project. In developing the Trail the pupils would undertake a range of tasks such as:
• exploring their local area to determine the most interesting route for the Trail
• devising a general theme for the Trail and writing an introductory back story
• writing directions and clues
• using art, design and photography to create clues and the game mechanics
• using various sources to research interesting facts about the area
Once developed the Trail could be marketed as part of an Enterprise project.

Day 1 at a new school, college or university is a daunting enough prospect for new students let alone for the staff responsible for making sure everyone is in the right place at the right time! Let Treasure Trails Lancashire devise a fun event that will allow your new students to:
• quickly orientate themselves to their new surroundings,
• get to know new class mates,
• make new friends,
• all as part of a fun and relaxed event.
The event will be tailored to meet your requirements. If applicable it can be based on one of our existing Trails or we can design a tailored trail around your institution and its surrounding area. We can run the event for you or provide you with an organiser’s pack with everything required to allow you to run the event yourself.
Lancashire, with its rich history and heritage and mix of urban, rural and coastal destinations, is an ideal location for a school trip. Our existing Lancashire Treasure Trails provide a fun, healthy and educational way to explore these locations and can be used as the basis for an engaging and worthwhile trip. The standard Trail of your choice will be enhanced to include additional challenges which can include puzzles, games, photo challenges, collection tasks and quiz questions.
