Vita-Mix asked us to design and run an event for them in the Wye Valley - the brief was simple - have people challenged and have them get wet!!
We found a great self catering place for them to stay at Upperfields Farm and they arrived in time for a barbeque on the Tuesday evening.
Next day, they had an early start with a sales meeting followed by a cookery skills demonstration which they were a little perplexed by but got stuck in helping to chop, whip and mix various ingredients! At 11.30 sharp, it was out to the mini bus and off to the Forest of Dean for a traditional pub lunch followed by a raft building and racing challenge on Mallards Pyke. The rain held off but they got wet anyway! The raft building itself was the first of a series of challenges were the two teams could earn points which converted to minutes for the final race.
Back to the farm for dinner and this was when it dawned on them that they had to cook it. The cooking and serving of a three course meal proved to be harder than they thought, but the skills they had learnt into the morning came in very handy.
By Thursday morning they were used to the self catering aspect and bacon, eggs, sausages and beans were the order of the day! By 8.45 the mini bus was loaded up and we went off to Ross-on-Wye for the Murder Mystery Challenge. As there were two teams, we had to have a staggered start so Team Stealth had a couple of challenges to solve before starting on the Trail which got them in the mood for the puzzles to come.
After a very successful Trail, a shopping challenge and a pub lunch, the t eams made their way to Huntsham Bridge on the Wye to start an afternoon of kayaking down to Monmouth. Kayaking was harder than it looked and by the time they reached Monmouth they were tired but there was still one more challenge to go! The race off.
The final race gave Stealth a head start of 2 minutes. They had to kayak across from one side of the river to the other, collect an envelope of instructions, bring it back to their team, complete the task and return back across the river to pick up the second envelope of instrucitons and a second task - there were three tasks in all and the fourth and final task was the hunt for treasure! Everyone was exhausted at the end, but not too exhausted for the celebratory champagne!
Back at the farm, dinner was laid on and the teams set about preparing a presentation on what they had learnt as a team and about themselves and each other which would stand them in good stead when they returned to their day jobs! The presentations were delivered in the form of a Big Brother House by Invicta and Improvised Comedy act by Stealth. The evening ended with prizes for the Best Individual and the winning Team and all agreed they had had an extremely memorable time and planned to come back again to the Wye Valley.
