YOUR CASE
The Abbot, a well-known local historian had called a press briefing to announce a find, that in his words "would shock the world". Just before the briefing, smoke was seen billowing from his study. The journalists, on smashing down his door, found the Abbot lifeless on the floor with many of his papers ablaze in his fireplace. Someone had something to gain from his silence, can you find out who?
Romsey
Romsey is a beautiful market Town in the heart of Hampshire. It's history is remarkable, from the founding of the Abbey in the 10th Century by King Edward the Elder (son of Alfred the Great) for his Daughter Ealflaed, the first Abbess, through to being the home and last resting place of Earl Mountbatten of Burma. The mix of architecture is fascinating and of course the Abbey itself is beautiful. There are some lovely gardens too, particularly the Memorial Gardens by the river Avon. Our Trail takes you through the most beautiful, historic and even surprising sights, ensuring a fantastic day out! Whilst on our Trail, please stop and enjoy the sights as you go, specifically make sure you spend some time in the Abbey.
This Trail takes you on a circular route around the beautiful streets and gardens of Romsey. The route is just under 2 miles and should take around 2 hours. It is very flat and gentle and is therefore suitable for wheelchairs and pushchairs.
