YOUR CASE
Walter Greywing had been flying for weeks and at last he needed to rest. On his leg was a tiny capsule containing a special map of a faraway island. He looked down at a green city square where children were playing. Here were some happy humans to deliver the message to! The pigeon landed near to a couple of children. "Look!" shouted one of them, "a message!". Read on to see what was inside...
Bloomsbury Treasures
What a lot of treasures there are to be discovered in Bloomsbury! With Holborn to the south, Fitzrovia to the west and Clerkenwell to the east, it's an area of London rich in cultural and artistic (especially literary) history.
Great Ormond Street (the Hospital for Sick Children), the Foundling Museum, the Charles Dickens Museum and Coram's Fields (adults only permitted to enter if accompanied by a child) are all located along the route, so there is a real family feel to this Trail. However, adults will be equally fascinated by the town-like character of this district - the Trail passes countless 'blue plaques' commemorating famous literary residents of years past. There are also some fantastic pubs and cafes en route.
At just over 2 miles the route is easygoing, and manages to take in a great number of parks and green spaces. When planning your Trail, please be aware that many London parks and squares close at dusk.
Approximate distance 2.25 miles. Estimated completion time 2 hours (excluding optional breaks, games and picnics).
The Trail starts and ends at Russell Square Station.
Nearest Tube Station: Russell Square (Piccadilly Line).
The Trail is suitable for pushchairs. There is one narrow section between hedges which could require a detour for wheelchair users.
