In 1720, Old Tom, a parishioner of some notoriety, was suspected of pilfering from the townsfolk and was shipped away to end his days doing hard labour. Last week, whilst polishing the silver in church, Mrs Miggins found an island map stuffed in the base of one of the altar candlesticks. Alongside were instructions as to where Tom had hidden the hoard. Can you solve the clues and find the location of the treasure?
Stow- on-the-Wold
Can you solve the clues and find out where Old Tom 'stowed' the hoard he pilfered from the townsfolk back in 1720? This Trail will take you from the town centre through some of the most scenic and historical areas of lovely Stow-on-the-Wold. Starting in the town square, the Trail takes you through the parks, squares and streets of wonderful Stow-on-the-Wold, a classic Cotswold market town.
This Treasure Trail is 2 miles long and should take you about 2.5 hours to complete. It is mostly paved, fairly level, with some gentle inclines throughout. 2 hour parking (pay and display) is subject to availability in the town square. Alternative free long stay parking can be found at the public car park adjacent to the local superstore, a short walk out of town.
