Fairford
Fairford is an historic town, approx 6 miles east of Cirencester. It sits on the River Coln, which runs into The Thames a few miles away in nearby Lechlade. It is celebrated for the magnificent Medieval stained glass windows in St Mary's Church, one of the most complete collections in the world. They can best be appreciated from the inside and we would encourage you to visit if time permits. This small town has a bustling community feel and boasts a good range of shops as well as an excellent welcoming coffee shop and several good pubs and restaurants. Many of these book up weeks before the extremely popular annual Royal International Air Tattoo held in mid July. A market is held every Wednesday in the Market Square but no clues should be affected by this. The town also hosts an annual festival which runs for weeks cross the summer and includes community events to suit all tastes. The highlight is the Fairford Festival weekend in early June which includes a dog show, ball, markets, competitions and a 10k run amongst other things.
This Trail is mostly on paved surfaces. There are a couple of short stretches along well-maintained footpaths. The Trail also crosses water on two occasions via purpose built bridges. Light pushchairs should manage the terrain easily. There is also a playground and a picnic area along the route and even the possibility of a chance to feed the ducks!
