YOUR CASE
In 1718, at the ripe old age of 55, Capt'n Greybeard retired to his home port of Bristol with chests of gold as his pension fund. After hiding his treasure, Greybeard enjoyed a party thrown by his crew to mark the occasion. Leaving the celebrations that night he fell, drunk, off the quayside and drowned, leaving only this map and clues as to the whereabouts of his hoard. Solve the mystery for a chance to share the bounty yourself!
Bristol Harbourside
Bristol Harbourside has seen a magnificent transformation over the years and is now a lively, bustling hub of the City Centre, home to a wealth of historical, cultural and tourist attractions to suit all tastes and ages.
This Trail, a circular walking route of 1.7 miles and one of 5 Trails currently available in Bristol, begins and ends in Millennium Square and explores the city centre quays and the floating harbour before heading along towards Brunel's ss Great Britain. The return is via a short ferry crossing (small additional fee to pay, currently 70p) before arriving back at the start. Along the way you will pass the newly re-opened MShed, Brunel's ss Great Britain and At-Bristol, all of which are well worth a visit, time permitting. Please note that last ferry crossings mean that we would advise you do not start this Trail after 3.00pm.
The route is level and both pushchairs and non-motorised wheelchairs can access all parts, including the ferry. Unfortunately motorised wheelchairs cannot be accommodated on the crossing. Parking is available in Millennium Square, close to the start.
