Retailer ‘Treasures’ Ongoing Success of Walking Trails

Dodwells in Bath Road, Cheltenham this week became the first retailer across the UK to take delivery of the new look Treasure Trails. The fresh, new packaging has been developed following extensive market research and now features location photographs on the front cover of every Trail along with clear icons to facilitate end user selection as well as Trail descriptions, giving a flavour of what’s to come, on the back of pack. Malcolm Hannaford, owner of the independent stationery outlet, earlier this week said  that he is “absolutely delighted we decided to list Treasure Trails in the spring of 2011. Sales have been growing ever since and we are already getting customers returning again and again to buy more, both for themselves and to give as gifts. And the new look packaging is even better. Our customers will love the smart, helpful improvements. ”

Since launching Treasure Trails in their retail outlet in Cheltenham,  Dodwells has seen steady growth of sales and now stocks more than 30 titles, mostly across Gloucestershire but also including a selected few in Cornwall, Devon, Dorset, Pembrokeshire, Wiltshire and Greater London.  Customers have even begun requesting individual titles which Dodwells are happy to order on their behalf.

Rachel Butt, Area Manager for Gloucestershire, delivered the latest order today along with new floor standing point of sale material which will feature in the Christmas display window at Dodwells and asked Malcolm to what he attributed the success of Treasure Trails for him as a retailer and why he was so supportive of the product.  “I first saw Treasure Trails on sale in Gloucester last Christmas and thought immediately what a great idea they were. Excellent value for money, universal appeal, something truly unique and a great way to encourage people to explore the UK in a really different and novel way. I bought two for my family and I and was hooked. As soon as the spring came I was keen to add Treasure Trails to our offering and haven’t looked back.  And now the word is spreading. We’ve seen a knock on effect on sales in other areas too, when customers come in to buy Treasure Trails. And with the new point of sale display I’m looking forward to a good season as we run up to Christmas”.
