How To Solve a CrossTrail

This is the new fun puzzle for the West Briton and St Austell Guardian newspapers devised by Treasure Trails Games.  It is a mix between a crossword and a treasure hunt through the newspaper!

Treasure has been hidden on an island, and you have to work out where.  A trail of words will lead you to the answer with the letter of the last word revealing the square in which the treasure is hidden.

The words can all be found in last week's edition of the newspaper and you will have to solve clues to find them.  Once found, write the word in the grid following the instructions in the clue.

As this is a brand new puzzle we have provided a couple of pointers to help you on your way.

Make sure you start at the correct square.  It is highlighted with an arrow.  If the first clue was, ‘What is the day of the week on the top of every page?’ and the heading given was South East, then the answer, which is  Thursday, would be written in the grid as shown below with the T going in the C1 square, as this is the start square, the H, because the heading is South East, going in the D2, the U would go in the E3 square – and so on, with the final letter of the answer, Y, going in the J8 square.

So, as you can see in the example above the S and the Y land in circles – therefore the answer to the next clue will start with either the letter S or the letter Y.

If the next clue was ‘In the main paper on page 1 - What is the name of the animal you can see in the National Sanctuary in Gweek? Heading South’ and the answer was Seal, you would use the S in the circle from the previous clue and enter your answer as shown below.

Carry on finding and entering your words and the square in which the last letter of the last word sits is the location of where the treasure is buried.  Get this answer correct and you could win some M&S vouchers.
