  • YOUR MISSION

The evil genius Dr. Mal Content has created a device that will send a swirl of acidic liquid through the streets of Saffron Walden, destroying forever the perfectly preserved historic buildings and seriously impairing the health of anyone in the way! Luckily, he's pretty forgetful, so he set himself a series of clues around the town to remind him of the code to deactivate the device. Can you solve the clues and save the town?

    Saffron Walden

Saffron Walden is one of the most historic towns in the country. With perfectly preserved Tudor shop fronts, mediaeval buildings and Victorian gardens, practically every period in history is represented here. A quaint old town, it is also stunningly pretty, with flowers and trees at every corner. With a Trail that takes you through the beautiful Bridge End gardens, past the ancient Cross Keys and along the fascinating row of Tudor shop fronts on Cross Street, what better way to explore this incredible town?

While the Trail itself is one of our shorter ones, at 1.5 miles, we expect your enjoyment of the scenery to make it last around two hours. This Trail is suitable for pushchairs and wheelchairs and, like all our Trails, is circular, so there's no need to bring a map to get you back to the car!
