trail advice

If we become aware of any issues which may hinder your ability to complete any of our Trails, you will find them listed below with either alternatives or the clue answers. We hope this helps you to enjoy our Trails to their full potential!

Colne Valley Driving Trail

We have become aware that there are roadworks in Chappel in between the station car park and the Milennium gardens. When you reach this part of the Trail, we suggest you either walk (it's not far, but we do not advise you do this with small children, as there is a busy road to cross) or follow the diversion. Be advised, however, that the diversion will take you approximately 25 minutes.

Walking directions: Go down the hill, cross the road (please take extreme care when doing so), go over the bridge and turn left into the Milennium Garden car park.

Frinton-on-Sea Walking Trail

We have become aware that one of our Frinton-on-Sea clues, set on the front of a shop, cannot now be solved due to the shop's going out of business. Please find below the details of this clue.

This applies to all Version 1 Frinton-on-Sea Trails.

The clue number is 19. The answer code is CADGEE. (It used to refer to the telephone number of the Cats Protection shop.)

Chelmsford walking trail

There is an unfortunate typing error in the start box of the Chelmsford Trail. The name of the car park is TownFIELD Street, not TownMILL.

dedham walking trail

One week after the Trail was tested, the board on which the first clue was based changed! The answer to the first clue is Castle House (this is the name of the place at no. 7 on the board). This is relevant to all Version 1 Dedham Trails.

braintree walking trail

There is a typing mistake on clue 21 of the Braintree Trail. If the clue wording says 'a=0, b=1 and c=3', you have an early version which is incorrect. Follow the instructions using the code 'a=0, b=1 and c=2', as you would expect and complete the code. When you have done so, you shoould have a 2. Convert it to a 3 in order to match it to a location. This is relevant to all Version 4 and earlier Braintree Trails.
