YOUR MISSION
Ana Conda de Loco is at it again! Racing her speed-boat on the River Tees at Yarm, she devised a plan to cut off the loop and make her next journey even faster. Her science boffin accomplice, Dr Snapp, has built a machine for her to slice through the town and create a new route for the river. Many homes and businesses will be destroyed! Can you work out the code to de-activate the machine?
Yarm
Yarm is a small town on the border of North Yorkshire and the Tees Valley. It's almost surrounded by a loop of the River Tees, similar geography to both the City of Durham and Warkworth in Northumberland.
The Trail starts and ends in the middle of the high street. This is a very wide street with beautiful Georgian buildings, independent shops and many places to eat and drink.
As you follow the route you’ll discover some fascinating facts and see some incredible sights. You’ll walk under the giant arches of the half-mile long viaduct and discover a stone bridge more than 600 years old. There are usually ducks and other water-birds here on the Tees, and sometimes you can watch canoeists enjoying ‘messing about on the river’!
This Trail is 1.5 miles in length and will take you around one and a half hours to complete.
Unfortunately it’s not suitable for wheelchairs due to a narrow path on the river. However, it is possible to avoid this section by backtracking slightly via the car park at Sainbury’s. Please contact us for more information.
Yarm High Street is a disc-parking zone. You can purchase a disc for 50p from many of the shops once you’ve parked. It’s valid for up to 2 hours and can be used again.
Please note that occasionally, when the river is very high, the town’s floodgates are closed. This means that the Trail would be inaccessible during these times.
