YOUR MISSION
International supermodel turned notorious criminal Ana Conda de Loco wants to sail her large yacht along the River Wear through Durham. The fact that her yacht cannot fit under the historic bridges is of no consequence to Ana Conda; she has planted bombs under the bridges to bring them down! Can you de-activate the bombs by finding the clues and working out the code?
City of Durham Spy Mission
Durham City grew around the tomb of St Cuthbert. As many pilgrims came to seek healing at his shrine, the busier and wealthier the town grew. When William the Conqueror became King of England, he recognised Durham's excellent situation on a rocky outcrop within a bend of the River Wear, and the building of the Cathedral and Castle together became of powerful political importance. The Prince Bishops of Durham were appointed as religious and military leaders, with all the powers of the King, to protect England from invading Scots.
The Cathedral was a glimpse of Heaven to visiting pilgrims and the Castle an imposing fortress, symbols of spiritual and military medieval power. Now a World Heritage Site, and the greatest Norman building in Britain, a visit to Durham Cathedral is truly unforgettable.
Follow in the paths of the pilgrims and come to Durham. There are wonderful pubs, restaurants and cafes, and excellent shopping including regular markets.
This Trail is one mile long, and will take you around an hour. Unfortunately due to steep cobbled areas and one set of steps on Kingsgate Bridge, it's not recommended for wheelchair users. The Trail starts and ends outside the Gala Theatre in Millennium Place. It's designed to be completed in your own time, so do take the opportunity to explore shops, museums and the Cathedral on your way round if you wish.
There are numerous places to stop for refreshments, and there are public toilets inside the Gala Theatre and on Palace Green beside the Cathedral.

WHAT OUR CUSTOMERS SAY
We both found the trail exciting and interesting and we both learnt things about Durham that we didn't know before. We are looking forward to doing some of the other trails in the area.
