YOUR CASE

Hotel De La Vista in Weymouth is considered by many to be one of England's most beautiful. However the hotel's legend about a young girl who was found dead in the 17th century appears to have been repeated when Dolly Dinwhyt, a young chambermaid was found dead in the linen closet. Had she met her end by the hand of Tristam Stashit, the son of the millionaire shipping magnet, Lord Stashit or by some other gruesome means.

Weymouth Town

This is a delightful walking Trail starting at the site of the old Devenish Brewery, now Brewers Quay, then over the Town Bridge to what used to be Melcombe Regis, through the Town and on to the Promenade. Just imagine olden times with bathers in their full piece swimming costumes running from the beach huts into the sea trying not to be seen. Then to the historic Custom House Quay, where one of Melcombe Regis' more dubious claims to fame is recorded, for it was here that a sickly sailor from Gascony stepped ashore in the mid 14th century, bring the dreaded black death, the bubonic plague into England, killing an estimated 30 - 50% of the country's population.

This Murder Mystery Trail should take about 2.5 hours with 2 miles of walking. There are a couple of slopes at the beginning of the Trail, but it still should be suitable for both wheelchairs and pushchairs.
