Sherborne Town & Abbey
This Trail takes you around the old Abbey Town of Sherborne. Ruins of the twelfth century castle, built for the Bishops of Salisbury and destroyed in 1645 in 16 days by Oliver Cromwell in the Civil War. Sir Walter Raleigh fell in love with Sherborne, and built the new castle in 1594. There are many beautiful historic buildings in and around the town which is dominated by the beautiful Abbey. Sherborne is best discovered during the day on foot when it is bustling with activity.
This Murder Mystery Trail is a pleasant Trail with no difficult areas to negotiate which makes it suitable for both pushchairs and wheelchairs. The Trail is about 1 1/4 miles in length and should take about 2 1/2 hours to complete.
