The Revenue Officers have arrested a number of suspected smugglers and their accomplices for the brutal murder of one Gabriel Hill, a “Landshark” intent on putting an end to the thriving commerce in spirits, tea, tobacco and lace. The suspects are, of course all pleading their innocence. It is your job to solve the clues which will lead to the murder weapon, and to the one who dispatched this Revenue Officer!
Abbotsbury and The Fleet
The first impression of Abbotsbury is a picturesque rural village settled in the rolling hills of Dorset. The view that stretches eastwards along the Chesil Beach to the Island of Portland is stunning.
The 15th century St Catherine’s Chapel stands upon a hill which dominates the village, the terraced slopes leading the eye downwards towards the church and he village. South westward another breathtaking view of Lyme Bay can be seen.
This Murder Mystery Trail takes you to the Fleet’s unspoilt landscape which falls away before you to reveal the world's longest stretch of shingle – The Chesil Beach with its dramatic lagoon and sweep of Lyme Bay beyond. In the heart is some of England’s least known, yet most beautiful countryside. The first natural site in England to be designated a World Heritage Site. The Trail is car and foot based. Walking distance is about 2.5 miles, driving distance is 15 miles and the approximate time is 3.5 hours. You will not be required to pay parking fees at any of the locations. Unfortunately some areas are not suitable for wheelchairs or pushchairs.
