We fully embrace the concept of environmental sustainability.

Treasure Trails Dorset is committed to the following environmental statement.

In all our activities we seek to:

• Maximise the efficiency with which we use material resources.

• Reduce energy consumption and increase the efficiency with which we use energy.

• Reduce, reuse and recycle materials and dispose of waste in an environmentally responsible manner.

• Improve the environmental awareness of our customers by encouraging recycling of Trails.

• Seek to educate our customers about the environment around them in a fun and interesting way.

In practice we do the following:

• Surplus Trails which are unsold or outdated are recycled. A message is also included at the end of the Trail asking customers to recycle the Trail if they do not wish to keep it.

• The Dorset office recycles all its waste paper, cardboard, plastic, glass, batteries, ink & toner cartridges, etc, and utilises low energy light bulbs.

• The trails are printed on paper which is accredited by the Forestry Stewardship Council (FSC).  This means that our paper comes from well-managed forests and other controlled sources.

• We have been very proud to be involved in a number of projects aimed at reducing car usage.  We currently have three cycling trails and two bus trails as well as 24 walking trails, several of these include the use of footpaths and bridle paths.  Click on the links for further details.

• The vast majority of our Trails are walks in towns and villages which can be reached by public transport. Some of our Trails, including for example, Christchurch and the Yellow Bus Trails encourage the use of the existing bus routes.

• The Trails are an all year round activity, and as such bring visitors, both local and holiday makers into each of the Trail locations. Undoubtedly our Trailers spend money on refreshments and other incidentals whilst walking around. Our Trails also help to benefit less well-known places as we don’t just aim for the well-known tourist spots.
