Totnes
The ancient market town and river port of Totnes is a wonderful place to explore. It has a rich and fascinating history that can be clearly seen as you wander through the busy narrow streets which are dominated by timber framed buildings, the Norman motte and bailey castle and the red sandstone parish church. The Trail leads you via the main sights in the town to Totnes Castle, through the park and then finishes with a very pleasant stroll beside the River Dart. Totnes is also full of quirky and interesting shops to browse and has a reputation for welcoming hospitality in the many cafes and restaurants where you can enjoy delicious locally produced refreshments.
This is a Murder Mystery Trail which is 2 miles long and takes approximately 2 hours. The trail is steep in places and has several long cobbled paths to negotiate. There are several flights of steps. The last part of the Trail is on a track beside the river. This Trail is regrettably not suitable for wheelchair users.
The Trail can also be purchased as a booklet from the Totnes Tourist Information Centre, which is located at the start of the Trail.
