  • YOUR CASE

‘Twas a dark and stormy night when One Eyed Jack, the notorious Teignmouth Smuggler fell overboard & drowned whilst bringing his illegal contraband ashore. One Eyed Jack had hidden the booty in a secret location, on a small island off the South Devon Coast. Unfortunately, Jack took the secret of his ill-gotten gains with him to his watery grave. All that remains are some instructions and a tatty map to help you find his haul.

    Teignmouth

The delightful town of Teignmouth in South Devon is a treat to explore! Situated on the Teign Estuary along an unspoilt stretch of red sandstone coast, Teignmouth has always been popular as a fashionable English seaside resort, with its variety of Georgian and Victorian buildings and its magnificent Esplanade along the sea front. Explore the history of its boat building and maritime past, enjoy the fun of a traditional English Pier with its amusement arcades and rides, or simply sit and soak in the atmosphere and sunshine from one of the many street cafes. The trail takes you from town to seafront to stunning hilltop panoramic views of South Devon within a short distance, which makes Teignmouth truly a delight to explore!

This is a Treasure Hunt Trail which is approximately 1 1/2 miles long and takes around 2 hours to complete. The trail is suitable for both pushchairs and wheelchair users, with a suggested alternative route to avoid a small flight of steps.

The Trail can also be purchased as a booklet from the Teignmouth Tourist Information Centre, which is located at the start of the Trail.
