YOUR CASE

Respected English detective, Sherbert Holmes, lesser known cousin of Sherlock, has been tasked to hunt down the infamous Beast of Dartmoor, also known as “The Moggie of the Mire” and put an end its reign of terror. As he traipsed across the desolate moorland during his investigations, Sherbert discovered a body in the bog, which has been brutally murdered. Can you help Sherbert find out who committed this dastardly deed?

Dartmoor Haytor Hoppa

Dartmoor National Park is one of the largest and wildest areas of open country in the South of England. Covering an area of 954 sq km (368 sq miles), its unspoilt natural beauty attracts thousands of visitors every year. Rugged and remote, steeped in myths and legends, teeming with ancient archaeological history, populated with picturesque villages and towns, Dartmoor really is a fantastic place to explore!

The Dartmoor Haytor Hoppa Murder Mystery trail will help you to explore eastern Dartmoor using the scenic circular Haytor Hoppa bus service or by car. The trail starts at the Headquarters of the Dartmoor National Park Authority at Parke, near Bovey Tracey, where you can leave your car all day for free. You then catch the Haytor Hoppa bus from Union Square in Bovey Tracey and visit Haytor, Widecombe-in-the-Moor, Hound Tor and Manaton; then enjoy a lovely stroll through moorland and woodland to reach Becky Falls, where you can then catch the Haytor Hoppa bus back to Bovey Tracey. The Haytor Hoppa Bus Service runs every Saturday from 3 April to 30 October 2010 and every Thursday from 27 May to 16 September 2010. There is a leaflet giving the bus timetable enclosed with each trail purchased in booklet format, or download the bus timetable from www.dartmoor-npa.gov.uk/vi-haytorhoppa
If you’re planning on completing the trail by bus in one day, please make sure you start early and plan your journey to allow you to catch the last Haytor Hoppa bus back to Bovey Tracey.
The trail can also be completed by car.
