  • YOUR CASE

Matlock Bath in the 18th Century was a mining town and a wealthy mine owner, Ivor Goldmine has been found entombed in a cavern. At first it was thought he had lost his way, then during a local excavation a murder weapon was found and evidence now suggests otherwise. Help detectives identify the weapon and use the clues to work out who committed this terrible crime.

    Matlock Bath

Matlock Bath is positioned along a winding valley road with high, sheer cliffs to one side and the village laid out on the other side of the river Derwent. There are inviting refreshment facilities, picnic areas, children's playgrounds, wooded walks and two caves. The Peak District Mining Museum is based here as are a number of attractions connected to the spas that gave Matlock Baths its existence back in Victorian times. This Trail will have you taking in the sights, crisscrossing the river and rubbing shoulders with people who have come to see the nearby cable car ride to Abraham Heights and the dramatic setting of a theme park at Gulliver's Kingdom. Keep your eyes open for slaloming kayaks in the river too.

This Trail is approximately 2 miles long and should take you about 2 hours to complete.
