  • YOUR MISSION

The green fingered genius, Dr Rose Gardener, acting on behalf of an unscrupulous town, has planted a device which is due to be activated in the months preceding the judging of the prestigious Britain in Bloom competition. The device will spray strong fertiliser causing the flowers to bloom too early thereby scuppering the town's chance in this year's event. Break the code and de-activate the device.

    PENRITH

Penrith is known as the “old red town” due to its sandstone buildings, and lack of grey slate normally associated with Cumbria.
The town developed on the crossroads of several important routes across the country.
Penrith grew around the castle with narrow roads and yards built as defences against raids from the north and was first granted a Royal Charter to hold a market in the town by Henry III in 1223 which is still held every Tuesday.
This walking Trail will take in much of the old town, which in some places still retains its medieval layout. Along with the town's many famous connections, William Wordsworth, Bonnie Prince Charlie and the Duke of Gloucester, there are an astonishing amount of long established businesses.
It’s turning these hidden corners that make Penrith such a surprising delight to visit.
Of course the town is well provided with places to have a drink and something to eat.

The Trail starts and finishes at the Tourist Information Office on Middlegate. The nearest car park is Brunswick Road; this is a pay and display.
