YOUR CASE
For over two centuries the mysterious death of Kendal wool and cloth millionaire Curly Herdwick, known as “ King of the Yards” has baffled local folk in the same way as it did authorities at the time. Curly was found slumped close to a vat of dye by weaver Jenny Spinner early one morning. Can you solve the mystery?
KENDAL GINNELS AND YARDS
On this Trail you must find the answers to clues around the yards and ginnels (alleyway’s) of Kendal to see if the 200 year old mystery as to who did the dirty on Curly Herdwick. Whilst this is a fictitious case, you may win a cash prize if you submit the correct answer to the mystery. The Trail starts at Kendal’s historic market place, winding its way along Stricklandgate, taking in an often overlooked park. There is a steep, climb leading to stunning views of the town, castle and the fells. The descent back into town will take you under buildings, through hidden doorways and fascinating yards, giving an insight as to how Kendal once must have looked. Along the way are a number of opportunities to take refreshments at a number of cafes, pubs and restaurants if you need refuelling. This is a walking Trail of 2.00 miles which should take about 1.5 hours. It is mainly on pavements and footpaths around the town. A number of the footpaths are steep and can be slippery if damp. Unfortunately due to terrain the Trail is not suitable for wheelchairs users or pushchairs
