  • YOUR CASE

It was a dark and stormy night on Lake Windermere, when notorious Highway woman Peg Sleddle took to the waters escaping pursuing soldiers. Pegs boat overturned in the storm never to be seen again. Peg took to her grave the secret whereabouts of her loot accumulated over a lifetime in crime. Until recently that is when a treasure map with instructions to the location was unearthed. Will you manage to find Pegs booty?

    BOWNESS ON WINDERMERE

Bowness and Lake Windermere has been a magnet for visitors since Victorian times. This town and country walking Trail takes in the lake-shore and panoramic views of the fells. It will lead you from the town centre through a delightful woodland path, returning to the town after witnessing splendid Victorian buildings.
The Trail begins at the Tourist Information Office at the Glebe, close to Windermere Pier on the lakeside.

This Trail is suitable for adventurous pushchair users as at points the terrain the Trail follows is uneven and muddy. Unfortunately this makes the Trail unsuitable for wheel chairs.
