  • YOUR MISSION

Evil business tycoon Bob Srunckle has been up to his old tricks again. He is in the process of selling a large chunk of the Tamar region to an international leisure company who want to build a Happy Holiday Complex in the area. Only one thing can stop him ruining the view of the famous bridge and surrounding landscape; a secret code from planning officers to halt the building works. Can you solve the clues and save the views?

    Tamar Views

The Tamar Valley is best known for its industrial heritage and rich mineral deposits of copper, tin, lead, silver, manganese and arsenic. A designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, it takes in farmland, granite landscape, salt marsh and ancient oak woodland.
The Tamar Bridge was opened in 1961, then the longest suspension bridge in the UK. Carrying approx.40,000 vehicles per day it runs parallel to Isambard Kingdom Brunel's Royal Albert Bridge.
Opened in 1859 it is considered to be one of his greatest railway achievements. Cornish folklore has it that the devil never bothered crossing the Tamar into Cornwall believing that were he to do so he would be used as filling in a pasty.

This scenic driving Trail of 23 miles takes in stunning views of the Tamar and beyond, from the top of Kit Hill where you have a panoramic experience, to the picturesque quays at Calstock and Cotehele and the regenerated area at Saltmill lying beneath the Tamar Bridge. With approx. 1 mile's walking and lasting 3 1/2 hours in total this Trail is our Gateway to Cornwall.
