  • YOUR MISSION

Local school children have been practising their singing and Morris dancers have been polishing their routines ready for the annual fayre. Local businessman G.R. Eady sees an opportunity to make some money from spoiling the event and has put rain seeds in a box ready to detonate causing rain to fall on the parade. You can stop this catastrophe by solving the clues and finding the de-activation code!

    Amersham Old Town

Amersham Old Town, or Amersham as it is correctly called, is in a valley through which the River Misbourne flows. Now only a stream it once powered mills and provided water for the breweries that were once here.
Amersham On The Hill is the "new" part of Amersham. It is above the old town and it grew up with the arrival of the railway. The arrival of the railway, had been delayed as the then Lord of the Manor of Amersham did not want the railway to impacy upon his views and he insisted it run up the hill along its present route. This did however mean the old town remains largely intact and full of treasures to be discovered today.
This area was once a hotbed of religious fervour. In the 1600s people who believed that they should be able to read the Bible in English were persecuted for their views and some were martyred for their faith. A memorial to the Amersham Martyrs is on the hillside near where they met their fate. This Trail will take you there and you will from there see the view on the front cover of this Trail.

This walk is around 2.5 miles and is likely to take about 2 hours to complete.
