Devon

Rod and Sandy Tilke recently joined Treasure Trails as the second licensees, having taken over the Devon Licence. Sandy first met Teresa at a Business Link “Networking for Women” Seminar in Okehampton, which she dragged her poor reluctant husband, Rod, along to as well! Rod and Sandy were immediately struck by the fantastic concept of Treasure Trails, and straight away purchased several Trails for Christmas presents. Only two days later, fate lent a guiding hand, and Sandy bumped into Steve at a Craft Fayre in Exmouth. Steve told Sandy that Treasure Trails was growing at a remarkable rate and that he and Teresa were looking for committed and enthusiastic individuals to join the Treasure Trails Team. Rod and Sandy did not need to think too long about Steve’s proposal and immediately decided that they wanted to join the rapidly expanding Treasure Trails phenomenon. Steve and Teresa handed over the reins of the Devon Licence earlier this year. Rod and Sandy are very proud to be part of the Treasure Trails family and aim to enhance the fantastic reputation that Treasure Trails has gained throughout Devon and Cornwall.

Rod was born in Teignmouth and has spent all his life in Devon except for a two year period in neighbouring Cornwall as a child. He loves the outdoor life and enjoys travelling both in the UK and abroad. Both he and Sandy are keen skiers and walkers, which is lucky as their three dogs need plenty of exercise!

Sandy is Devon born and bred, having hailed from a long-standing farming family east of Exeter. After studying Environmental Studies at University in Sheffield for three years, she ran off to join the Army. She thoroughly enjoyed ten wonderful years as an Army Officer and was fortunate enough to travel the world extensively at Her Majesty’s pleasure! She returned to Exeter in 1995 to live in an old cottage which she had bought and renovated a few years previously.

Rod and Sandy met when they realised they shared a common love of the outdoors. They have recently converted a retired post office delivery van into a fully equipped camper van, called “BlueBelle”, and can often be seen out and about looking for new trails to write! They live just outside of Exeter with their three dogs, four cats and 37 goldfish.
