Steve Ridd MBEManaging Director
Steve is the Managing Director and founder of Treasure Trails. He spent twenty years as an Army Officer before returning to his native Cornwall in 2003. When he was re-discovering the delights of Cornwall during his sabbatical Steve came up with the idea for Treasure Trails, born from a childhood love of treasure hunts.
Steve, who has been described as 'maddeningly enthusiastic', is a huge fan of all sport and an untiring bundle of energy.
When did you start Treasure Trails?
I think I have had Treasure Trails burning inside me since I was a boy (only 15 years ago!) when I became engrossed in Cadbury's Hunt the Golden Egg competition. I launched Treasure Trails officially in February 2005.
What does an average day at Treasure Trails mean for you?
Great fun. I can honestly say that there has not been a single day when I have not looked forward to coming to work. There are too many great people, exciting projects and development areas for Treasure Trails, to ever allow me to get bored or do anything other than thoroughly enjoy this business.
What is your favourite Trail?
The View from Carn Brea - Cornwall. I think it is the best Trail I have ever written. It has everything - fun clues, fascinating history and some stunning locations.
When you're not at Treasure Trails, what can you be found doing?
I love playing and watching all sport. If I had to choose my favourite pastime - it would be playing cricket on the same team as my two sons.
